Half-Breed, Dracul

Posted by EarthDragon on 22nd August 2015.

Cursed from birth, dracul are the result of the rare and unnatural union of vampires and humans. Although not driven to consume blood for survival as their undead progenitors are, dracul nonetheless know a lifelong desire for blood that nothing else can truly sate. Those who survive their early years face a life of fear and mistrust, their unnatural beauty and incredible reflexes marking them as scions of the night just as surely as their sensitivity to light. Although polluted by undeath, dracul do grow old and die, aging at a rate similar to er-hat’tan.

   Personality

Dracul are shunned and cursed by those who know their heritage, which tends to make them sullen, wary and suspicious of others. They have a strong desire for blood, though they do not rely on it for survival as their vampiric parent does. As a result, a dracul in the grips of a particularly strong craving is dangerous and alarming to be around. Given the chance to deal with others on a more normal basis, they can develop trust and friendship for others, provided those others can look past the dracul’s vampiric heritage.

   Physical Description

The Dracul are unnaturally graceful humanoids who resemble humans very strongly. They make little sound when they move and have piercing gazes. In addition to generally being proficient with sharp blades, they also possess needle-sharp teeth, a carryover from their half-vampiric heritage.

   Relations

As noted in the personality entry, dracul are often shunned and are regarded as cursed by others. They have no truly good relations with any particular species in general and tend to form their bonds of association by direct contact and individual experience rather than pre-judging anyone by race.

   Alignment

Many dracul are evil, largely driven to that alignment by the response of others to their heritage, but there are those who are neutral or even good, though the latter are rare. Similarly, they tend towards chaos, though lawful and neutral examples are certainly possible in the right circumstances.
