Elf, Kored (Green Elf)

All elven races are related, though it may be a distant relationship. Once, all elves were of one race, many thousands of years prior to the emergence of humans, when they were a slave race to mysterious and dark masters of whom they do not willingly speak. Over the aeons of their bondage, they splintered into sub-racial groups, which further split after the events leading to the disappearance of their masters and the breaking of their slavery (events in which the elves took no part, and have no more knowledge of than any other race). All elves have an innate ability to recognise another elf, and identify which sub-type they belong to. This applies even when an elf has not encountered a particular sub-type for centuries (or, indeed, ever). This ability is an instant recognition that works even if an elf is masquerading as another sub-type through disguise or other non-magical means. This ability even has a chance to pierce magical disguises (such as illusions, and polymorph, though not shapechange). The elf who sees another elf under any form of magical disguise makes a Will saving throw against a DC of 15 + caster level of the magical disguise effect, less their Intelligence modifier.

Kored mingle freely within the lands of The Unification, always welcome, seldom belonging. They are well known for poetry, song and dance, but are also equally known for lore and the magical arts. They favour things of natural and simple beauty, and they seldom display gaudy attire or jewellery. When danger threatens, however, they exhibit a martial skill, albeit one not so pronounced as their imir cousins. Kored are the most common variety of elf, and have come to be considered by many to be the “default” elf, in that when those (very few) mored are returned from their dark paths, they almost invariably become kored.

   Personality

Kored are usually more likely to be amused than excited and curious than greedy. Having a long life, they tend to go for broad perspectives on life, being largely unfazed by and aloof from petty happenstance. When they are focused on a goal, kored are relentless and dedicated. They are slow to make enemies or to call one friend, but they are even slower to forget (or forgive). Their response to petty insults is disdain and sardonic wit, serious insults, however, are addressed through vengeance. Kored are good at vengeance.

   Physical Description

Kored are somewhat shorter than some of their brethren, though they may still dominate humans with regard to height, standing between 5’6” and 7’ tall. This height range also gives them the most variability in characteristics among the elven clans. Like most of their brethren, they are graceful but frail, with pale skin and the paler hair colours with green eyes.

   Relations

Kored consider humans pretty unrefined, so’van psychotic (a fairly widely held view among many races) and lo’menni staid, boring, and uninteresting. They tend to regard half-breeds with some degree of pity, and some of the more exotic races are viewed with distrust. However, while somewhat haughty, kored are not particular like some other races can be, and they are generally pleasant and gracious to those who fall short of elven standards (which is virtually everyone who isn't an elf). The do, however, quite like sandana.

   Alignment

: Kored value freedom, variety and self-expression, thus leaning strongly toward the gentler side of chaos. Generally, they value and protect others’ freedom as well as their own, and they are more often good than not.
